How can I back up / copy my Outlook 2003 inbox and outbox to CD-R or a 4gb flash drive? I have attachments (which I don't need), and approximately 3,000 e-mails in each. Would it be better / faster to get a portable / mobile USB disk drive? I am not that computer savvy, but tried to look this up on Microsoft's web site, and couldn't locate the instructions for this particular task. My computer is on a network, if that makes a difference. Thanks.

I have a Memorex 1GB USB flash memory drive. On Oct. 18th, I wanted to copy back my updated Excel spreadsheet file from my home computer onto the pen drive. It was low on space, ... < around 50KB or something like that. I delete a series of MP3s to free up 8MB+.
I got suspicious starting back a few weeks prior to that. I found msyelf having to clear up files just so I could put some minor files on there (up to 5MB at a time, average <0.5MB at a time), and yet, it didn't appear I was putting any large files on there. I would've remembered if i put 80MB of photos on there, and yet, it seemed like I went from 20MB free space down to nothing 'in a flash'.
I made text file reminding msyelf that I had 8.88MB free as of 10/18/07, but now, I'm down to 250KB again. I sorted files by last modified. I did NOT add any new files I'm aware of. The Excel file I update often has NOT inflated by 8MB.
what could cause memory to "leak" like this?

Portable Flash Drives: Is There Any Way To Get Some Games To Run Off A USB Flash Drive? (2/19/2012)
I was just wondering if there was any way to adapt games for use on a USB flash drive, in such a way that they would leave no files on the computer they were used on, sort of like a U3 flash drive based program, except without having to use U3's firmware. Of particular interest to me to make portable would be some of PopCap's games (Bookworm, Zuma, and Bejeweled 2 and Bejeweled Twist in particular). Is there any way to do this? The games I'm thinking of are better-suited to using a USB flash drive as their install since they're smaller in size and aren't really that load-intensive (which I know would be a problem on USB 2.0 flash drives). Now, out of curiosity, I feel like installing Bejeweled Twist to a my SanDisk 8 GB USB 2.0 flash drive and see how well it runs.
Portable Flash Drives: How Can I Create A Menu Interface On My USB Which Opens Automatically When I Insert My USB? (2/19/2012)
Enjoy the intro! Was messing about. Video starts at 0:15 Just a quick tutorial to show Xbox 360 users how to setup a transfer from the Xbox 360 Hard Drive to a portable USB device. This is helpful to those who haven't enough hard drive space to contain the game content.
I have some portable applications and batch files on my USB flash drive that I use often.
I would like some portable freeware software which gives me the option to run the files when I insert my USB, like when inserting a CD.
I would appreciate the names and links to product pages of any suitable software. (Trials is fine if it only limits me to one menu system)

Portable Flash Drives: Can A Portable Hard Drive Act As A Hard Drive? (2/17/2012)
Are you getting rid of an old computer? If so, you need to make sure all your data is completely gone. Simply formatting your hard disk DOES NOT do this. This video shows you how to REALLY erase your hard drive where it can't be recovered again.
Okay, here's the situation. I have two laptops, but both of them have broken hard drives. So I was wondering if I went out and bought a portable hard drive from Wal-Mart if there was some way that portable hard drive would kick in and act as the main hard drive if there isn't one already in there or if these so called portable hard drives were nothing more then larger flash drives?

I have been looking at simpletech and western digital portable hard drives (80gb and up). Which of these is best? Or if not these then what brand is best?
After KICKING the side of my computer to get the hard drive to start up (It was only a 1 yr old Maxtor)!!, I knew it was time to clone it as soon as I could before it failed. Mine has Vista. I used my Copy Commander 9 Program to make the clone of my old drive on a bigger WD one. Here is the link to get the downloaded version from the official site. www.avanquest.com Then I decided to back up my wife's computer by cloning her hard drive to another too! (Hers is XP) Here is how I did it. Also, if your drives are bigger than the 137 GB barrier allows, then set up the drive in DOS first so your computer "sees" the entire 320GB or what ever size you choose. And absolutely DON'T FORGET to RUN the "SCANDISK" (tell it to fix errors automatically) on the ORIGINAL drive before copying it over or it will stop in the middle and you will have to start over, as Copy Commander 9 won't let you copy errors....And that is good! It may look like it is "froze" when it begins working, but be patient. IT will work. Good luck.

Portable Flash Drives: USB Flash Drives Not Working? (2/12/2012)
My computer seems to have a bit of a problem accepting some USB flash drives. My computer will take USB 2.0 but when certain USB's are inserted, it comes up with an install drivers window. After attempting to install, it says it can't find the driver. I have checked and I do have USB 2.0 drivers and my other USB 2.0 devices work (eg, Lenovo 512MB) but some won't work, even though they have the same brand (eg my Lenovo 1GB) Imation can't help me with my Imation USB not working but suggested it may be "something to do with my system". Because of this, I can't use my larger USB's. I am running Windows XP SP2

Portable Flash Drives: My Portable Hard Drives Messed Up Please Help!? (2/9/2012)
This is a hard drive clock I built from a 3.5" hard drive, some tri-color LEDs and a PIC16F252 microcontroller. It works by shining the LEDs underneath a platter with a slot cut into it, and by timing the various colors it can produce an analog clock display as well as other patterns. I got the idea from this page: alan-parekh.com And here is my page with more details: www.ian.org .
I let my friend borrow my portable hard drive during school one day to take some movies off of it, but when i plugged it into my PC the next day(right click and explore from my computer) it keeps telling me that i have to format the drive to continue! there is a lot of very important stuff on this hard drive, can anyone help? please!!!!!
If you accidentally fried your hard drive then don't despair my friend! I did exactly that. I touched the exposed circuitry (thanks Seagate for not bolting on a cover!) against the chassis of my pc. I mounted the Seagate 80Gb ATA drive to the chassis but there was a metal tab touching a resistor on the control board. *Crackling sound* I hate the smell of friend circuitry! Ok so I basically broke into a cold sweat when the drive kept setting off my power supply whenever it was plugged in. I had all my design work on it and some recent work I did for some clients that was worth thousands of dollars. How the puck was I to get my data back? I called up a few hard drive data recovery places in Sydney. The average cost to get my data back was 00. Two Thousand Dollars! Remember that amount, I'll continue further with this story. I thought about this for a while and remembered that I had two other Seagate drives. One was a 40gb and another was an 80gb drive. The 80gb drive had a different control board and the 40gb had an identical control board to my fried 80gb drive. The only difference between the fried 80gig and the ok 40gig was the firmware version and a few slightly different chips, but they had the same serial numbers. I couldn't see damage to the control board on my fried drive. But I unscrewed the control board and took a look underneath for discolorations. Nothing visible, but the chips on the control board must have been damaged. Regardless, I took the 80gig that ...
